Happy Holidays

Winter in Vermont is always special!  As much fun as there is with the downhill and cross country skiing, ice climbing, ice fishing and ice skating, there is so much more to warm the heart.  The warmth of the holiday dining together, fireside chats after a day outdoors and the romance of a glass of wine together.  For the non-skiers enjoy a fun sleigh ride with the family or just visiting the many shops with our local treasures.

Just down the road from the Willoughvale Inn you can drop in at Young Farms to see the Vermont Evergreen Christmas trees and wreaths.

While visiting local shops and farms in the area, don't forget to drop into Gil's Grill here at theWilloughvale Inn for a hot drink and to share your stories of what you've found on your visit.  Or, just ask what there is that you may not have seen.  The grill is open Thursday through Saturday serving dinner from 5PM to 8PM.  We are also serving up a great Holiday dinner from December 24 - 31.

To quote Robert Frost, a famous Vermont visitor;
"These woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."

The Willoughvale Inn is is on the road and a great place to dine and to sleep!

We wish you all a very Happy Holiday and we hope to see you in the new year!

A Fall Road Trip to see the Lakes of Vermont

Autumn is the best time of the year for a Vermont road trip because the fall foliage is unbelievable..  Check in at the Willoughvale Inn on Lake Willoughby and enjoy a great meal and a drink in Gil's Grill.  Start your trip the next day and head north from nearby Westmore VT, you head north for a short half hour drive to Newport VT.

                                               LAKE WILLOUGHBY

WOW, the beautiful fall foliage along the roadside is amazing!  Newport is located on beautiful Lake Memphremagog.  A brief stop for some photos and some unforgettable sightseeing.

                                            LAKE MEMPHREMAGOG

Leaving Newport and Lake Memphremagog, we head west toward Lake Champlain.  The largest lake in Vermont, spanning into Canada and to northern New York state.  We arrive in the Lake Champlain region after a beautiful two hour drive across Vermont.  Arriving in the St. Albans Bay area, we settle in for more great lake side sightseeing and a fantastic lunch.

                                                  LAKE CHAMPLAIN

Heading back east it is a 3 1/2 hour ride surrounded by the beautiful color show of the Autumn leaves.  Back at the Willoughvale Inn settle in for a nightcap and a look at your photos of some memories that will last a life time.  Off in the morning for some fishing on Lake Willoughby or your next adventure.
